Day Two- Sticky Sweet

We began our day with a peaceful morning. This is the view from our second floor hotel room. Looks like a sleepy little town but during the afternoon and evening it gets busy and noisy. Thank goodness for earplugs. So, this is the school as of today. At the far right is where the kindergarten room has been added. I think schools are like churches, they look odd without people . Schools need kids like church buildings need all people. Today was a district wide teachers meeting and Monday is a holiday so the kids have a 4 day weekend. I bet they are loving it!! We will only get to see the kids Tuesday - Friday. Here is the new kindergarten room that was added on to the school. We cleaned the room to get ready for a mini kindergarten next week. The purpose is to introduce the preschool kids to their room and teacher for the new school year in September. There is a Mennonite community here in Corozal district and they made the little chairs. We have 18 little chairs and three tables for the kids.
Look Mom, I do clean!! Yes, I know that it is surprising, but since I'm the youngest one here I volunteer for the grunt work. Can't wait for the Chattanooga group to get here...more workers!!!

Betty is working hard to replace the books in their proper order. Betty has made it her mission to organize the library every trip she makes to the school.

Johnetta and I are carrying supplies for the kindergarten. We found the moblie shelving at the shop across town. Everyone we passed stared at us. As we passed one teenager, he said "Nice souvenir." I have a feeling that many others were thinking the same thing.

I just added this because I thought it was a beautiful picture. We passed this little house on the way to lunch today. I couldn't resist snapping this shot.
